Bereits seit einigen Jahren arbeitet die Schweizer Uhrenmanufaktur Girard-Perregaux mit dem britischen Automobilhersteller Aston Martin zusammen, legt regelmäßig interessante Zeitmesser mit ganz speziellem Auftritt auf. Auch für das Team in der Formel 1. Jetzt war es wieder einmal soweit, kommt die Laureato Absolute Aston Martin F1 Edition in den Handel bzw. wird an Frühbesteller ausgeliefert. In limitierter Auflage, nur 88 werden gebaut. Wie es sich für zwei Hightech-Manufakturen gehört, wurde hier ein Höchstmaß auch bei der Materialauswahl getroffen. So besteht das sandgestrahlte Uhrengehäuse (44 mm) aus Titan Grade 5.
Dieses Material wird nicht nur wegen der sehr hohen Festigkeit und im Vergleich zu Stahl leichtem Gewicht schon immer in der Luft- und Raumfahrt genutzt. Auch beim britischen Formel 1 Team Aston Martin und Girard-Perregaux kommt es seit längerer Zeit zum Einsatz.
Darüber hinaus ist diese Legierung (90% Titan, 6% Aluminium, 4% Vanadium) nicht magnetisch und hypoallergen (Allergieschutz), solche Eigenschaften sind natürlich in der Uhrmacherkunst vorteilhaft.
Das Zifferblatt in der Farbe Aston Martin Racing Green unterstreicht das Automobil-Thema ebenso wie die teilweise skelettierten Stunden- und Minutenzeiger. Die inspirierte der Kühlergrill von Aston Martin Fahrzeugen.
Um die Ablesbarkeit bei schwachem Licht zu verbessern, sind die beiden Zeiger fluoreszierend beschichtet. Jede Stunde wird durch einen ebenfalls fluoreszierend beschichteten applizierten Index markiert.
Das Armband aus grünem FKM-Kautschuk mit Textileffekt, soll für ein außerordentlich angenehmes Tragegefühl sorgen. FKM-Kautschuk ist flexibler und verschleißfester als herkömmlicher Kautschuk, bleicht zudem weniger leicht aus.
Für einen optimalen Sitz am Handgelenk ist das Armband mit einer feinjustierbaren Faltschließe aus Titan bestückt. Diese komfortable Konfiguration eignet sich daher ideal als täglicher Begleiter.
Der Gehäuseboden trägt neben diversen Detailinformationen (z.B. auch Wasserdichte) das Logo der Marke Aston Martin und eine auf die Limitierung hinweisende Gravur: „One of 88“.

This watch is housed in a 44 mm case formed
of grade 5 titanium. Familiar to both the british formula one brand and swiss manufacture, this material is often selected for its low mass and notable strength. It is also corrosion resistant, non-magnetic and hypoallergenic; attributes that are particularly beneficial for watchmaking.
In this instance, the titanium has been sandblasted, imbuing the alloy with a subtle texture that confers a sublime tactility.
Executed in Aston Martin Racing Green, the dial hue reinforces the automotive theme.
The Aston Martin hour and minute hands are partially openworked and were inspired by the front grille widely found adorning the car marque’s road cars, such as the iconic DB12.
They are also lined with luminescent material, aiding readability in restricted light conditions.
Each hour is denoted with an applied index,
again incorporating luminescent treatment.
The centre seconds hand and date display, executed in lime green, a hue that graces the Aston Martin formula one car, complete the inventory of functions.

To complement the case, the Laureato Absolute Aston Martin F1 Edition is presented on a green FKM rubber fabric-effect strap that has been optimally designed to deliver a superb feel.
Both companies chose FKM rubber as it is more flexible, less prone to fading and offers superior wear resistance when contrasted with conventional rubber.
The strap is fitted with a titanium folding clasp with a micro-adjustment system, allowing the wearer to finely adjust the strap to achieve the perfect fit.
Indeed, it is the soft and supple nature of the strap, together with the ergonomic clasp, that make this watch a comfortable companion, ideally suited to daily wear.

Ticking beneath the solid caseback is an in-house manufacture movement, the GP03300 calibre. Crafted at the company’s production facility in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the self-winding movement is optimally shaped for the Laureato model.
It features an oscillating weight adorned with circular Côtes de Genève motif. Additional movement refinements include straight Côtes de Genève on the bridges, bevelling, mirror-polished screws, circular graining on the main plate and engraved gilded text, all executed to the company’s no-compromise standards
